That’s For Sure!

The world we live in is moving fast! The media is bombarding us daily with news of change and uncertainty. The government and other powers are hard at work to promote agendas at such a pace that the people are not able keep up with all of the changes. To top it off, there are rarely any leaders willing to take responsibility for their actions. The average person in our world today is struggling to know what they can count on, or who is telling them the real truth. History has shown us that governments rise and fall. Nations grow to power and then are overthrown. The rich go too far with their greed and oppressive ways and the commoner revolts in attempts at levelling the playing field… and the cycle continues.

But history has also shown us something that remains solid and true, no matter what has come against it. Governments have assembled in aggressive efforts to stop, slow, or even kill off the Kingdom of Christ, His word, and His followers. Babylon, Greece, Rome, even other religions have risen in persecution of God’s church and followers of His word; only to witness the Kingdom advance and increase at an accelerated pace. In the first century AD, Rome and certain of the Jews, persecuted the early church. A wise Jewish priest named Gamaliel spoke out and declared that if God was with these people, there would be nothing anyone could do to stop them. He said that they would not only be opposing themselves to the Christians, but to God Himself! We Christians, can learn from Gamaliel’s faith today.

Through any of the uncertainties we may face in today’s tumultuous world, there are some things that will never change. If we Christians can stand upon the promises of God’s word, we will see the victory of our omnipotent God working through our own personal lives to display His wonder-working power! I cannot tell anyone for sure what may or may not happen in our government, or our economy; but, if I’ve witnessed anything over the last two years, it has been that nothing is certain in the kingdoms of un-believing governments. Yet, God’s kingdom is advancing and increasing in every nation across the globe! There is good news; there are some things that keep me anchored and are available for you too!

Faith in the unchanging God! He is the Lord; He does not change! He is always with the faithful. He will never leave nor forsake the ones who have put their trust in Him! Jesus, declared to His church that we are “in this world” but not “of this world,” and that in this world we would suffer tribulation. The good news is that Jesus charges us: that we can “Be of good cheer for He has overcome the world!” This is a certainty that God is working through His sons and daughters! Philippians 2:13 states, “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Jesus said “it is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom.” (Luke 12:32) As believers, Christ has purchased for us an inheritance, and with that, comes some certain foundational promises that we can count on- for sure!

One of Father God’s promises to us is found in Isaiah 26:2-4 “Open the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in. You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.”

Another is found in Hebrews 4:15-16, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

See, we have certainties, truth that we can rely on; as we turn our focus to the good news of the Kingdom of God- accessed through our personal Savior, Jesus Christ and His Spirit of Truth! Be encouraged today as you discover your place in the Kingdom and as others begin to see God’s glorious victory contagiously advancing through you! This is really GOOD NEWS — that’s for sure!
