Just As You Have Spoken

Numbers 14:20-33

Then the Lord said: “I have pardoned, according to your word; but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord—  because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice, they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it. But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it. Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley; tomorrow turn and move out into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.”

And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me? I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me.  Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you:  The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above. Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in. But your little ones, whom you said would be victims, I will bring in, and they shall know the land which you have despised. But as for you, your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness.  And your sons shall be shepherds in the wilderness forty years, and bear the brunt of your infidelity, until your carcasses are consumed in the wilderness.

This history is both alarming and encouraging. Alarming because it shows us that with our own words we can disqualify ourselves from entering the promises of God for lives. We can also, with our own words, release prophesies of doom upon our generation. We are living in a time when the enemy of God has launched an all out attack against Godly truth, identity, and Godly principles on many dimensions. But we as God’s church have the power to discharge, reject and nullify the strategies of the enemy if we can train our beliefs and bring our tongues into alignment with the word of God! Now, more than ever, we must align ourselves with His truth and declare His promises with boldness and courage. Listen! Now is the time rise up with the spirit of Caleb and Joshua. A spirit that believes in the declaration God Himself makes in this text. God spoke and said to Moses; “As surely as I live the whole earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord!” God swore by His own life that the Earth shall be filled with His glory! Not after the “rapture” or in the “apocalypse” but it is what God wanted to do with the nation of Israel then and still wants to do through His believing church today!

Wait! Before you pick up that stone, think about every time in the Old Testament and New that God has commanded men to establish His domain on earth. Or bring His kingdom to the world. Adam? Noah? Abraham? Moses? David? And Jesus to His disciples? All were ordered to bring the blessing of God’s kingdom to the earth! To drive out worshipers of false gods in the Old Testament, and to drive out demons and to place the realm of spiritual darkness under our feet in the New Covenant! We can take the land! We can bring the Kingdom of heaven to the earth! But we must learn to mind our professions and declarations of faith in the promises of God rather than in the expanse of darkness! The principalities and powers of darkness do not win this war! Sickness, disease, oppression, and all the strategies of darkness will not divide or put God’s church in retreat.

Notice in the above scripture from Numbers 14, that the things Caleb and Joshua spoke are the things they received. And the things the unbelieving spies and their followers spoke is what they received. Also, notice that the evil, or unbelieving reports still caused Joshua and Caleb to lose forty years of victory before they could get to the promises themselves. Now is the time for God’s church to walk in and speak of His promises. Now is the time for us to refuse to be divided! But rather to unite over His word and declare the salvation and deliverance of the Lord to the world around us. Remember, the weapons of our warfare are NOT carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds!

1 Corinthians 15:57-58

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
